Air Source Heat Pumps 

  • Qualify for our discounted electric heat rate
  • Transfers heat between your house and the outside air
  • Use a system of coils to evaporate and condense a refrigerant with the help of a compressor
  • During the summer, the heat pump functions as an air conditioner. During the winter, it runs in reverse and provides heat
  • Can replace air conditioners and integrate well with your existing ductwork.
  • New technologies in air source heat pumps have also allowed for a new hybrid heat pump that uses LP or natural gas in addition to electric energy, allowing for additional efficiencies

Electric Heat Rate Program

What better way to take advantage of energy-efficient heating and cooling systems than to participate in Midland Power's heat rate program? Members that take advantage of this program, by utilizing a second meter for their home's electric heating and cooling system, receive electricity for their heating and cooling at a discounted rate.

A summer rate runs from May - September, and a winter rate runs from October - April.  Whole house geothermal heat pumps, air source heat pumps, or resistance heat systems typically qualify.
